What is a Parti Poodle?
A Parti Poodle is a Poodle whose coat is at least fifty percent white with clear patches of a second colour — apricot, red, black, silver or brown. It is not a separate breed and not a fault. Parti colouring is an old, recessive pattern in the breed: both parents have to carry it, which is exactly why the dogs are scarce.
Everything else is Poodle. Same intelligence, same low-shedding coat, same size classes, same long life. Only the colouring is different.
Parti Poodle price in India
₹2,20,000 to ₹3,50,000. This is our premium line and the most expensive dog we sell. The price reflects how few dogs in India carry the pattern properly — producing a good parti litter needs both parents to carry the gene, and those parents came in from abroad.
If you find a “parti Poodle” offered cheaply, look carefully. Mismarked dogs with a white chest patch are sold as parti to buyers who do not know the difference. A true parti has clear, well-distributed patches over a mostly white coat.
How rare is a Parti Poodle?
Rare enough that most Indian buyers have never seen one in person. For decades the major kennel clubs preferred solid colours, so breeders bred the pattern out; it survived in a small number of lines and has become sought-after again in the last fifteen years. In India the number of breeders working with parti Poodles at all can be counted on one hand.
Are Parti Poodles good dogs?
They are Poodles, so yes — with the same conditions that apply to any Poodle. Clever, closely bonded to their people, low shedding, and unhappy left alone all day. The coat needs brushing several times a week and a professional clip every six to eight weeks, and a white-based coat shows dirt more than a solid dark one. That is the real cost of the look.
Colour has no bearing on temperament or health. A well-bred parti is exactly as sound as a well-bred solid Poodle.
Parti colour combinations
The ones we most often have are apricot and white and red and white. Black and white, silver and white, and brown and white also occur in the breed. Patterns are never repeatable to order — every parti puppy is marked differently, which is much of the appeal.
Living with a Parti Standard Poodle in India
- Size. Ours are Standard Poodles, the largest of the three sizes — around 60 cm at the shoulder, 20 to 32 kg full grown.
- Heat. Walk early and after sunset in summer, and ask your groomer for a shorter summer clip rather than a shave. The coat protects against sunburn, and a white-based coat burns easily where it is shaved to skin.
- Monsoon. Dry ears and paws after every wet walk.
- Grooming budget. Plan for a professional groom every six to eight weeks for the dog’s whole life, and a little more often if you want the white kept bright.

Parti, phantom, abstract, tuxedo — telling them apart
These four words get used interchangeably by sellers in India, usually by people who do not know the difference. They describe genuinely different coat patterns, and the price differences between them are large. Knowing which is which protects you.

The most common thing that happens in the Indian market: an abstract puppy with a white chest and white feet is advertised as parti and priced accordingly. If under half the dog is white, it is abstract. That is the whole test.
Why parti is not merle, and why that matters
This section matters more than anything else on this page, because it is where buyers get hurt.
Parti is a white spotting pattern. It has been in Poodles for centuries — in fact the earliest Poodles were frequently parti-coloured. It carries no health risk whatsoever. A parti dog is exactly as healthy as a solid one.
Merle is different. Merle produces a mottled, marbled coat and it does not occur naturally in Poodles at all. Where it appears, another breed has been crossed in. More seriously, breeding two merle carriers together produces double-merle puppies with a high risk of deafness and blindness.
So when someone offers you a “merle poodle” in India, two things are true: it is not a purebred Poodle, and if the breeder does not know exactly what they are doing with merle genetics, the litter carries real risk. We do not breed merle and we would advise against buying one.
A parti coat, by contrast, is simply a beautiful and uncommon pattern with nothing hidden behind it.
How parti markings change as a puppy grows
Buyers are often surprised by this, so it is worth saying plainly before you choose a puppy.
- The pattern itself is fixed at birth. Where the white sits and where the colour sits will not move.
- The colour can fade. Poodles carry a fading gene. A black parti can lighten to silver or blue over two to three years; a red can soften to apricot. The white stays white.
- Coat texture changes at around nine months when the puppy coat gives way to the adult coat. The pattern stays; the feel changes completely.
- Clipping changes how it reads. A short clip makes the markings look sharper and more defined; a longer coat softens the edges.
Ask to see photographs of the parents as adults, not just as puppies. That is the best available indication of how your dog will look at three years old.
Why genuine Parti Poodles are rare in India
Three reasons, and they explain the price.
The genetics are recessive. A puppy needs the parti gene from both parents to show the pattern. Two solid dogs that both carry it can produce parti puppies; two parti dogs always will. Building a line that reliably produces parti takes years of deliberate selection, not luck.
The foundation stock has to be imported. There is no substantial parti population in India to breed from. Establishing a line means bringing in dogs from abroad, with the cost and time that involves.
Litter sizes are small and demand outstrips them. Most of our parti puppies are reserved before they are born.
That combination — recessive genetics, imported foundation, small supply — is what sits behind the price. It is not a colour surcharge on an ordinary dog.
Buying a Parti Poodle: the questions that expose a fake
At this price point you should be difficult to sell to. These are the questions we would want asked of us:
- “Can I see both parents, live?” If the parti pattern is real, the breeder has parti or parti-carrying parents to show you. A live video call is the minimum.
- “Is this parti or abstract?” Ask them to explain the difference. Their answer tells you immediately whether they know what they are selling.
- “What colour were the grandparents?” Real parti lines have a traceable history. Accidental ones do not.
- “Is any of this merle?” If yes, walk away, or at minimum understand exactly what you are taking on.
- “Can I see the pedigree?” Documentation should exist, and you should be allowed to read it before paying.
- “How much white is on this puppy?” Under 50% means abstract, whatever it says in the advertisement.
- “What happens if a vet finds a problem in the first week?” Agree this before any money moves.
Any breeder worth ₹3 lakh of your money will welcome all seven. We do.

Neither is “better”. They are different dogs that happen to share a coat pattern. Choose on how you live, not on the picture.
What buying a parti puppy from us involves
- Talk to us first. Tell us your home, your hours and what you want from the dog. If a parti Standard is wrong for you, we will say so.
- See the parents. In person if you are in Delhi NCR, on a live video call if you are not. We would rather you saw the adults than a puppy photograph.
- Read the paperwork. Pedigree and health records, before anything is paid.
- Reserve. Most parti puppies are spoken for early, often before birth.
- Eight weeks. Nothing leaves earlier, vaccinated, dewormed and vet-checked, with records.
- Handover. In person here, or accompanied transport anywhere in India.
