Compare dog breeds for Indian homes
Choosing between two breeds is the hardest part of buying a dog. These comparisons are written from what we actually see in the puppies we raise and the homes they go to — including the times we tell people the breed they wanted is the wrong one.
Most breed comparisons online are written for American or British homes. A dog that thrives in a house in Ohio with a garden and four mild seasons is not automatically the right dog for a third-floor flat in Gurgaon with a 44°C May and a two-month monsoon. Everything below is written for Indian conditions.

How to use a breed comparison honestly
Three rules that will save you from a decision you regret:
- Compare the daily reality, not the photograph. Both dogs look wonderful. The question is which one’s exercise, grooming and temperament fits your actual week.
- Be honest about hours. Almost every breed on this site does badly alone for nine hours a day. That single fact rules out more matches than anything else.
- Meet an adult of each. Puppies of every breed are appealing. Meet the eight-year-old version before you commit to fourteen years.
