High-rise living: the part Gurgaon buyers need to hear
Most Gurgaon homes are apartments in towers, and a Goldendoodle is a 20–30 kg dog bred to be with people. That combination works, but only under conditions:
- Lift dependency. Your dog’s toilet breaks depend on a working lift. In a 20-floor tower with two lifts, a puppy needing out every two hours is a real logistical commitment. Plan for the stairs occasionally.
- Noise carries. An under-exercised Goldendoodle becomes vocal, and in a tower that is your neighbour’s problem within a week. Exercise is what prevents this, not training.
- No ground-floor garden. Every toilet break is a deliberate trip. If nobody is home during the day, this breed is the wrong choice and we will say so.
- Society approval. Sort it before buying. Rules on lift use, timings and pet registration vary between condominiums.
Gurgaon builder floors and independent houses in the older sectors are an easier fit than a tower.
Gurgaon’s climate, specifically
Gurgaon runs a degree or two hotter than central Delhi in May and June, and the newer sectors have less tree cover, so pavements hold heat later into the evening. Practically:
- Walks before 7am and after 8:30pm through May and June, later than you would need in a leafier part of Delhi.
- Test the pavement. Uncomfortable for your hand after five seconds means it will burn paws.
- Short even clip in summer, never a shave. Exposed skin burns.
- October to January, air quality in Gurgaon is as bad as anywhere in NCR. Shorten walks on severe days and do indoor training instead.
- Ticks all year. The green belts and society lawns are where dogs pick them up. Check between toes and inside ears after every walk.
