Toy Poodle puppies in India, with KCI papers

A Toy Poodle puppy in India costs ₹45,000 to ₹70,000, depending on KCI registration and lineage. A Toy Poodle stands under 28 cm and weighs 3 to 4 kg fully grown, sheds very little and commonly lives 14 to 15 years. “Teacup” is not a real Poodle size.

Written by the Puppy Hub team — breeders of Standard Poodles, Parti Poodles, Toy Poodles and Goldendoodles in Delhi NCR for close to a decade, placing puppies with families across India. The prices on this page are our own and are kept current.

Toy Poodle price in India

₹45,000 to ₹70,000. The difference is KCI registration and the bloodline behind the puppy — a registered puppy from a documented line sits at the top of that range, and we will tell you plainly which you are looking at.

You will see Toy Poodles advertised far cheaper. Some of those puppies are undersized dogs sold as “teacup”, some are crosses sold as Poodles, and many leave their mothers at five or six weeks. Any of the three costs you more later than the money you saved.

What a Toy Poodle actually is

One of the three official Poodle sizes, alongside Miniature and Standard. A Toy Poodle stands under 28 cm at the shoulder and weighs roughly 3 to 4 kg full grown — small enough for any Indian flat, and long-lived, often reaching fourteen or fifteen.

Underneath the size it is a proper Poodle: quick to learn, closely bonded to its people, and low shedding. Small does not mean fragile or stupid, and a Toy Poodle that is treated like a toy becomes a nervous, noisy dog.

Teacup Poodles do not exist

There is no teacup size in the breed. The word is marketing for undersized dogs, often bred deliberately small at the cost of their health — fragile bones, dental problems, low blood sugar. We do not breed them and we would encourage you not to buy one from anybody.

Toy Poodle colours

Colour is the second thing everyone asks about. Ours are usually red and apricot. The breed also comes in white, black, brown, cream, silver and parti. A “teddy bear” Toy Poodle is not a colour or a type at all — it is a haircut, and any Poodle can have it.

Colour has no effect on temperament or health. Choose the puppy, not the shade.

Living with a Toy Poodle in India

  • Flats. This is the Poodle for apartment living. Short daily walks plus indoor play are enough, though the walks still matter for the dog’s head as much as its legs.
  • Children. Better with older children who understand that a 3 kg dog can be hurt by rough handling.
  • Grooming. Brushing several times a week and a clip every six to eight weeks, lifelong. Small dog, same coat.
  • Teeth. The one health point people miss in small breeds. Brush them, and expect dental cleaning to be part of the dog’s life.
  • Heat and monsoon. Avoid the middle of the day in summer; dry ears carefully in the rains.
  • Alone time. Toy Poodles attach hard. Practise short separations from the beginning or you will have a dog that cannot cope with an empty house.

KCI registration

Our Toy Poodle litters can be registered with the Kennel Club of India, and registration is one of the things that moves the price within the range above. You get the health record and vaccination dates either way, and you are welcome to meet the mother.

What comes with your puppy

  • KCI registration where applicable, explained clearly before you buy
  • Vaccinations and deworming completed for the puppy’s age, with dates
  • A vet health check before the puppy leaves us
  • Eight weeks minimum — particularly important in a toy breed
  • Delivery anywhere in India, or collection in Delhi NCR

What KCI registration proves, and what it does not

Almost every Toy Poodle listing in India mentions KCI. Very few explain what it actually means, and the gap between what buyers assume and what is true is where money gets wasted.

What a KCI certificate proves: that the puppy’s parents were registered with the Kennel Club of India and that the litter was recorded. It is a pedigree record — a statement of ancestry.

What it does not prove: that the puppy is healthy. That the parents were health tested. That the dog was raised well. That it will be the size you were promised. KCI registration is a record of parentage, not a quality certificate, and any seller implying otherwise is stretching it.

It still matters. A registered litter means the breeder is traceable and accountable, and it is the only formal pedigree system in India. But treat it as one signal among several, not as proof. The mother you meet and the records you read tell you more.

What you should get When
Vaccination card with dates and vaccine names At handover
Deworming record At handover
Vet health-check note At handover
KCI registration paperwork At handover or shortly after, depending on processing
Diet sheet — what the puppy has been eating At handover

If a seller cannot produce the first three, the fourth is not worth much.

Toy, Miniature, Standard — and why we will not sell you a “teacup”

Variety Height at shoulder Adult weight
Toy Up to 10 inches 3–5 kg
Miniature 10–15 inches 6–9 kg
Standard Over 15 inches 27–35 kg

“Teacup” appears on this list nowhere, because it is not a recognised size. It is a marketing word for a dog bred deliberately below Toy standard, usually by breeding the smallest and weakest animals in a line to each other, or by selling a runt at a premium.

Dogs produced that way commonly have fragile bones that break in ordinary falls, blood-sugar crashes needing emergency treatment, heart and liver problems, dental crowding, and shorter lives. We will not breed them and we will not source one for you. If that costs us a sale, we accept it.

A healthy adult Toy Poodle at 3–5 kg is already a small dog that fits comfortably in any Indian flat. Smaller than that is not a feature.

Health in Toy Poodles: what to actually watch for

Toy Poodles are long-lived and generally robust — 14 to 17 years is normal. Three things are worth knowing about in advance.

Patellar luxation. The kneecap slips out of position. It is the most common orthopaedic issue in small breeds. Reduce the risk by keeping the dog lean, discouraging jumping down from sofas and beds, and putting a rug on slippery tiled floors — polished Indian flooring is genuinely hard on small dogs.

Dental disease. Small mouths crowd teeth. Brush two or three times a week from puppyhood and expect a professional cleaning every couple of years. This is the single most neglected part of small-dog care in India.

Eyes. Progressive retinal atrophy exists in the breed. Ask any breeder whether the parents’ eyes have been examined.

Our puppies leave at eight weeks vet-checked, vaccinated and dewormed, with the records. Ask us anything on this list.

Grooming a Toy Poodle at home between salon visits

You cannot skip the salon with this breed, but doing three small things at home makes every visit cheaper and easier.

  • Comb, three times a week. Metal comb, not just a brush. Behind the ears, under the front legs and around the collar are where mats start.
  • Face and eyes, weekly. Wipe tear staining with plain water. Hair growing into the eyes causes more small-dog vet visits than anything else.
  • Nails, every two to three weeks. Overgrown nails change how a small dog stands and put pressure on those knees.

Salon visits every six to eight weeks, roughly ₹1,200–₹2,500 in Delhi NCR depending on the clip.

Why Toy Poodle prices vary so much in India

You will see the same breed advertised anywhere from ₹15,000 to ₹90,000. The spread is not arbitrary.

  • Under ₹25,000 — almost always a commercial operation, an unregistered mixed dog, or a puppy taken from its mother far too early. Frequently sold as “toy” when it will grow well past Toy size.
  • ₹45,000–₹70,000 — where a properly raised, KCI-registered Toy Poodle from a traceable line sits. This is our range, and the variation within it is lineage and papers.
  • Above ₹1,00,000 — usually a rare colour such as parti, or an imported dog.

The cheapest puppy is almost never the cheapest dog. A dog bought for ₹20,000 that arrives with parvo, or grows to twice the promised size, costs far more than the difference.

Who a Toy Poodle suits, and who it does not

It suits apartment living of any size, first-time owners who will commit to grooming, families with older children, people who want a long-lived dog, and anyone wanting a genuinely intelligent small dog rather than a decorative one.

It does not suit homes with toddlers who cannot yet be taught to handle a small dog carefully; anyone unwilling to budget for grooming; anyone wanting a dog that can be left alone all day; or anyone who wants a guard dog.
